It was once again that time of year to perform at the magical Royal Albert Hall with my wonderful ACM Gospel Choir! This year we had a theme of 50s so we all got to dress up in 50s outfits and even had a set on stage with a car, a bar and a booth!
The songs were obviously all 50s as well so the harmonies sounded fantastic! We had a fantastic time performing at that venue and also compered by the hilarious TV comedian, Katherine Ryan :)
I recently had the opportunity to work on board a privately owned yacht which is named "The World" where residents own their own apartments and they live onboard, unlike a cruise ship, the residents actually have their home onboard the ship. We met some very interesting people from all over the world.
We visited some wonderful destinations..... Venice, Croatia, Sicily and Malta and had a wonderful time on board.
I gave my Divas Through the Decades show its first official outing and it went down a storm...! I was even featured on the ship's TV channel!
It was a fab way to start the festival season singing backing vocals for the Brand New Heavies at not one, but two fantastic festivals! The first one was located in Southend in Essex called South East Soul Festival hosted by the wonderful DJ Trevor Nelson. Alongside The Brand New Heavies on the bill were the incomparable Incognito with the immense vocal talents of Imaani and Vanessa Haynes.
The second festival was the Soul Summer BBQ in Hastings which was a Music First Festival and once again was a huge success with artists such as the Sugar Hill Gang and Big Daddy Kane.
The crowd were fantastic and we had an amazing time on stage....!
So its finally here..... the final video for Divas Through the Decades which is simply put it is best described as:-
"a nostalgic musical tribute of iconic female vocalists that will take you take you through the decades” it is a one woman show covering divas through the decades from the vintage era, to the 60s and 70s, right up to the current day. Singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Lulu, Adele and Amy Winehouse are just a few of the of the iconic power houses that feature in the show."
We shot the first half at the beautiful Rivoli Ballroom in South East London which was just divine to film in this iconic building for the vintage section and the 70s/soul section and we took the...
I filmed an exciting new project this week which is entitled "Divas Through the Decades". We filmed the first part of this project at my dream venue, The Rivoli Ballroom in London. This is an original building dating back to the 1920s where they still hold ballroom dances there now. The decor is simply outstanding and perfect for where the show starts in the vintage era of the 1950s. The show takes you through the decades from the 50s to the present day. I cant wait to film the second part of it in the next couple of weeks working on the divas of the 60s and the current day artists.
I had the talented Tor Hills behind the camera and making me look beautiful was Amy Diamond who are both sin...
I had the pleasure of singing on the 100th show for Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway end of the show show! For anyone that has seen this programme before, its absolutely crazy and this episode was no exception.... check out the whole video below!
The end of the show show is a segment at the end of the show (of course) and because of the special nature of this episode it was extra bonkers.... there were gymnasts, Irish Dancers, bell ringers and hover boards not to mention the celebrities that also took part....
I was part of the ACM Gospel Choir who sang with the likes of Ball and Boe, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Cuba Gooding Jnr and Ricky from the Kaiser Chiefs to name but a few!
Just got back from an incredible trip singing backing vocals for the Brand New Heavies in Jakarta, Indonesia for LAFF Festival! It took place at the Jakarta Convention Centre right in the city centre hosting stages for 11 acts which all performed on one night including Anne-Marie and the Brand New Heavies! We played an hour long set with hits like Midnight at the Oasis, You Are the Universe and Never Stop.....
We had a wonderful time and got a wonderful reception from the crowd and all the promoters and staff that looked after us. With power house Sulene Fleming on lead vocals, a brass section and of course Andrew on bass and Simon on guitar the sound was heavy!
So January is over and we are well into February and I have been busy travelling the UK to perform in a few theatres over the weekend to sing backing vocals for a wonderful show called "Hello Again" which a show that is a wonderful tribute to legendary Neil Diamond.
The crowds have been wonderful and we covered a lot of miles going from Grimsby to Halifax to Carlisle and back again to London! Lots of fun and lots of service stations...
Brooklyn Creed takes centre stage as the man himself and with a backing band with a full brass section, percussion and two backing singers its a show not to be missed...Keep an eye on the gig page for when Ill be coming to town near you
Happy new year!!...... 2018 has certainly got off to a flying start..... I saw the new year in in style by singing at the very glamorous Savoy Hotel in London where guests danced the night away and celebrated the new year overlooking the fireworks display that took place over the River Thames!
Big things are simmering away - starting with joining a fantastic new show which is touring around the country. I will be singing backing vocals for a Neil Diamond tribute show which is blowing up a storm already so be sure to book tickets early if you are a fan of his music - not to be missed.
Also heading off to Indonesia with the Brand New Heavies for one off gig in Jakarta in February! Heres to a great 2018!
I had a great time filming the Michael McIntyre big Xmas show with the ACM Gospel Choir. We back the unexpected star of the show who did a fab job and totally stole the show! We were also part of the surprise during the show dressing up as Santas to try and beat the world record of jumping down the chimney!
The show was aired on Christmas Eve so everyone was feeling very festive.... the song is one of my favourite Christmas songs. If you missed it you can still catch it here:
